Government of Nepal honors Seven Summit Treks as the largest taxpayer trekking company
Kathmandu, Sept 28: The Government of Nepal has honored Seven Summit Treks (SST) for being the largest taxpayer trekking and expedition agency in Nepal. Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati handed the award to SST director Chhang Dawa Sherpa amid a function organized here on the occasion of World Tourism Day, 2023. Besides bringing in hundreds of mountaineers, SST paid 4.3 million USD in tax to the Government of Nepal in the fiscal year, 2022/23, being the largest taxpayer trekking and expedition company in the country. This is the 11th consecutive time since 2012 that Seven Summit Treks has been recognized as the largest revenue contributor trekking firm.
“We are proud that we have received the honor for our contribution to the tourism sector and economy of the country as a whole. We are happy that we are able to bring lots of tourists to Nepal and have contributed a tax of USD 4.3 million directly to the government last FY,” said SST Chairperson Mingma Sherpa.
SST has significantly contributed to the trekking and expedition industry in Nepal, and remains committed to promoting high-altitude adventure tourism in the Himalayan and Karakoram regions in the world, he added.
SST truly believes in the importance of making tourism accessible to all, and continues working to achieve this goal, said SST director Chhang Dawa. Mingma is the first Nepali and South Asian climber, who successfully ascended all 14 mountains of the world that are above 8,000m.
