About Himlung
Standing tall at 7126m, Mimlung lies in the northeast of the Annapurna Range on the border of Nepal and Tibet, around 140 to 150 km from the federal capital city of Kathmandu. Unlike any other mountains above 7000m, this peak is relatively technically easy to climb and makes a fit for beginners aspiring to climb a peak above 8000m. The Base Camp of Himlung is at a height of 4900m. Generally, it takes 20 to 30 days to climb the mountain. The peak was first conquered in 1983 by a team of Nepalese-Hirosaki University Joint Expedition. The feat was achieved after four failed attempts since 1963.
